CBSE Issues Advisory to Students

CBSE Notice: Central Board of Secondary Education has released an advisory to help students avoid taking admission in fake or unrecognised universities. This advisory has been shared with CBSE by UGC to circulate it among students. UGC regularly publishes public notices and updates list of fake universities and unrecognised institutions on its official website.

This step is taken to create awareness among students, parents and other stakeholders. Taking admission in such self-styled and unrecognised institutions can harm student’s academic future and career prospects. As the admission process for academic session 2026-2027 has already begun, it is very important to inform students and parents so that they can make safe and informed decisions.

In this regard, all CBSE-affiliated schools are advised to share this information with students and parents:

  • Schools should guide and counsel students of CBSE class 10th and 12th and their parents/guardians about dangers of fake universities.
  • Students should be clearly advised to check whether Higher Educational Institution (HEI) is recognised by the UGC by visiting official website ugc.ac.in, under main menu tab HEIs.
  • This advisory should be clearly displayed on school notice boards and shared through school websites, circulars and during Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
  • Students should be encouraged to apply for admission only to institutions that are officially recognised by UGC.

All schools are requested to strictly follow these instructions to protect students from being misled by fake and unrecognised educational institutions and to safeguard their future.
