CBSE has begun Class 10 and 12 practical exams for 2026. Check important guidelines for schools, internal assessment rules, recent exam date changes and board exam schedule.
Practical examinations for Central Board of Secondary Education affiliated schools have begun. CBSE in a notice has reminded all schools to strictly follow board norms while conducting Class 10 and Class 12 practical examinations, internal assessments and project work for 2025–26 academic session.
As per official notice, CBSE practical exams for Classes 10 and 12 have commenced from January 1, 2026, and will continue till February 14, 2026 for regular schools. During this period, schools must complete all practicals, internal assessments and project evaluations within prescribed timeline.
CBSE has clearly instructed schools to upload marks on same day assessment is conducted. Once submitted, marks cannot be edited or changed later under any circumstances. Board has also cautioned schools against delays, errors or casual handling of assessment data.
Strict Instructions for Schools
Board has directed principals to ensure:
- Availability of required infrastructure and lab facilities
- Proper appointment of external examiners where applicable
- Timely communication of practical schedules to students and parents
- Adherence to subject-wise assessment criteria issued by CBSE
- Any deviation from prescribed guidelines will lead to strict action as per CBSE rules.
2026 Board Exam Dates & Recent Changes
CBSE Class 10 and 12 theory exams 2026 are scheduled to begin from February 17, 2026 and will continue till April 2026.
Recently, CBSE made minor changes to 2026 datesheet for some subjects:
- Class 10 papers scheduled on March 3, 2026 have been postponed to March 11, 2026
- Class 12 Legal Studies paper, earlier set for March 3 has been rescheduled to April 10, 2026
CBSE in its notice has clarified that only a few subjects were affected, while remaining examination schedule remains unchanged. With practical exams underway and theory exams starting in mid-February, CBSE has urged schools and students to maintain discipline and avoid last-minute confusion during the examination cycle.
