CBSE Warns Schools Against Fake NCERT Textbooks, Issues Genuine Purchase Advisory

Board stated that several unauthorised book sellers are distributing fake versions of NCERT textbooks, which are of poor quality and often contain printing and content errors

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an advisory to all affiliated schools, warning them about  circulation of counterfeit NCERT textbooks being sold by unauthorised vendors at discounted prices.

In a circular Board stated that several unauthorised book sellers are distributing fake versions of NCERT textbooks, which are of poor quality and often contain printing and content errors. CBSE has cautioned that such errors can harm learning experience of students.

Schools have been instructed to guide parents to purchase only genuine NCERT textbooks through authorised sources. “Schools should procure NCERT books only through the channels notified by CBSE and NCERT from time to time,” the circular signed by CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta said.

CBSE has listed following official sources for authentic NCERT textbooks:

NCERT Regional Production and Distribution Centres (RPDCs) located in cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Kolkata, and Delhi.

Authorised vendors listed on NCERT website – www.ncert.nic.in.

NCERT Postal Supply Service through official portal.

Board has also provided contact details of RPDCs for schools and parents seeking assistance. Schools have been told to circulate this advisory among teachers, parents, and students to ensure compliance and maintain the integrity of learning materials.

CBSE in its notice has stated thatonly genuine textbooks is essential to uphold academic quality and prevent students from being misled by incorrect or poorly printed study material.
