The HC directed that the conduct of the HBSE Class 10 Science examination will remain stayed until the next date of hearing.
HBSE 10th Board Exam 2020 for Science subject put on hold by the Punjab and Haryana high court on June 29. According to the reports, the HC of Punjab and Haryana stayed a Haryana government move to hold the examination for the students, who are opting for science subjects in class 11th in state schools.
The high court bench of Justice Manjari Nehru Kaul passed this order when NISA Education, a society of private schools in the state filed a plea against the conduction of the HBSE 10th board exam for science subject.

Calling the government’s move discriminatory, the society challenged multiple communication from the Board of School Education, Haryana. Haryana Board’s direction for students wanting to opt for the science stream in 10+1 to take science examination and asking the school authorities to upload the consent of such students for the examination on the website by June 17, failing which the report/result of the students would be treated as ‘zero’ face severe backlash in the court.
The schools told the court that the government’s move to make the science exam compulsory for students wanting the science stream in 10+1 is discriminatory considering the prevailing pandemic situation.
The court was told that due to COVID-19 outbreak the HBSE 10th result 2020 was to be declared on the average basis but now after elapsing of four months from the start of next academic session and all the students got the admission in 10+1 classes, the board is planning to conduct the Haryana Board Science Examination.
The plea also cited the example of the higher and technical education departments that decided to promote students of Universities and Colleges without examinations. The society said that schools must adopt the same criteria for the students opting science studies.
The court was further told, “The schools have also termed the move in violation of guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs under Disaster Management Act, 2005. When the country is going into the ‘community spread’ of COVID-19 and Coronavirus cases are increasing day by day, the board is going to conduct the examination.”
The court now sought a response from the government and Board, by July 6. It further directed that the conduct of the HBSE Class 10 Science examination will remain stayed until the next date of hearing that is July 13, 2020.
Meanwhile, various media reports suggest that the Haryana Board will release the HBSE Class 10 Results 2020 in the month of July. However, the Board is yet to release the HBSE 10th Results 2020 date officially. The Class 10 Students who appeared for the HBSE class 10 board exams 2020 must know that HBSE will publish the HBSE Matric Results 2020 on the Board’s official website i.e. results.bseh.org.in.
