Hijab Row: Seven teachers in Karnataka's Gadag district have been suspended for allowing girl students to appear for the Karnataka SSLC exam wearing hijab. The Class 10 board exams were held at CS Patil Boys High School and CS Patil Girls High School in Gadag. The authorities have also suspended two centre superintendents.

Stating that restrictions on wearing of uniforms were reasonable and students cannot oppose it.
Students wearing hijab not allowed to appear for Karnataka SSLC exams
Various reports claim that several students wearing hijab were not allowed to enter the premises of exam centres on the first day of the KSEEB board examination. Such students were only allowed if they remove their hijab before entering the halls. A student at Shantiniketan Testing Center refused to remove their Hijab was sent back home and was not allowed to take the exam, the India today report claimed.
The instructions announced by the education minister stated that students wearing hijab will not be allowed entry in the examination hall unless they take it off.
"After the high court order, we have not allowed that (hijab). We have given clarification that they (students with hijab) can come into the campus wearing the hijab but they cannot put it on in the classroom. The same condition will apply during the exams," Minister Nagesh had said on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
