Instant Exams to be held for Class 12 absentees, Tamil Nadu State Education Minister

Tamil Nadu Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has stated that students who were absent for the Tamil Nadu Class 12 board Exams 2023 will have to appear for instant exams in June 2023. Tamil Nadu Class 12th Exams 2023 began on March 13, 2023. It was reported that around 50k students were absent for the TN 12th board exam on March 13, 2023. 

Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu has begun conducting the Tamil Nadu 12th exams 2023 from March 13, 2023. The Class 12 Tamil Nadu board exams in the state will be held till April 3, 2023. The instant examinations will be held for the students who want to appear for the improvement exams as well as the absentees.

According to the education minister, the absenteeism percentage during the exams was around 4.5% in the previous years. This year witnessed an absenteeism percentage of 5%. 

“We are holding a meeting with chief educational officers on Thursday and have already instructed the officials to ascertain the reasons behind the absenteeism in the exams,” the state education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi added further.

In 2022, around 40k students were absent for the TN board exams. Around 51k students appeared for the supplementary exams in 2022. In 2023, around 8.51 lakh students are appearing for the TN board exams 2023, out of which 4.03 lakh are girls and 4.33 lakh are boys.
