Schools Closing Updates: All schools and colleges in Kashmir Valley will remain closed on March 2 and 3. The institutions were earlier scheduled to reopen on March 2 for Classes 9 to 12 after a nearly three-month-long winter vacation. However, the reopening of Kashmir schools and colleges has been postponed to maintain law and order in the region.
Authorities said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to prevent any disturbance. Officials added that schools and colleges in Kashmir Valley have been closed to ensure that miscreants and anti-national elements do not take advantage of current situation. Security has been tightened in sensitive areas, including the old city and several uptown localities.
Education Minister Sakina Itoo stated that the closure was necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff and to help the administration maintain peace amid rising tensions. The move comes amid heightened tensions linked to developments in the Middle East. Security forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to prevent any disruption and to maintain peace in the Valley.
University Exam Postponed in Kashmir
Kashmir University has postponed all exams scheduled for March 2 and 3. The exact date and time for the conduct of these university exams will be announced later at official website or in the college. Students must stay in touch with their respective colleges for updates new J&K exam dates. Some of the universities that have postponed exams and suspended classes are
- Central University of Kashmir (CUK): suspended class
- University of Kashmir (KU): exams postponed and classes suspended
- Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), everything has been postponed, classes and exams
- Cluster University Srinagar (CUS)
- Government Degree Colleges GDC Baramulla and Islamia College Srinagar, postponed exams too
