Kerala Plus One Exam 2021: SC puts stay on DHSE Class 11 exam amid rising cases of COVID-19

Reports suggest that the decision to put a stay on Kerala Plus one exams has been in view of the ongoing pandemic situation and consistently increasing novel coronavirus cases in the state.

Kerala Plus One Exams 2021: Kerala government had earlier announced the commencement of Plus one exam in the state from September 5. However, according to the latest updates, the Supreme Court has put a stay on the state government’s decision to conduct Kerala Class 11 exams via offline mode from September 5. Reports suggest that the decision has been in view of the ongoing pandemic situation and consistently increasing novel coronavirus cases in the state.

A tweet posted by Live Law states, “Supreme Court stays for a week Kerala Govt decision to hold Class 11 (Plus One) Exam physically from September 5 amid rising cases of COVID.” According to the reports, the bench led by Justice Khanwilkar talked about the risky situation in the state and said, “There is an alarming situation in Kerala. It accounts for more than 70% of cases of in the country, with around 35 K daily cases. Children of tender age can't be exposed to risk."

Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, (DHSE) Kerala on September 2 announced the revised schedule for Kerala plus one exam 2021. The schedule was revised in order to give students ample time to prepare. The Board has planned to conduct Kerala plus one exam from September 6 to 27. Meanwhile, The Kerala government has announced not to charge any fee from Kerala Class 12 students for the academic year 2020-21. The decision has been taken in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation. Announcing the government’s decision regarding the fee, Kerala education minister V Sivankutty via his official Twitter handle, said, “The Department of Education has decided not to charge fees from any second year / Plus Two student for the academic year 2020-21. This decision is based on the situation of Covid-19 in the country and state.”
