Bringing cheer for school teachers in the new year, Odisha Government has decided to increase their salary. The salaries of junior teachers working full time or contractual basis have been increased by 50 per cent.

A total of 33,034 junior teachers will be paid as per the revised scheme working at various schools of the state government. The increase will take effect on January 1, 2022.

As per a statement issued by the state government, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has decided to increase the salaries of junior teachers engaged in teaching in primary schools.

According to the decision, the salaries of junior teachers (contracted) and junior teachers have been increased by 50 per cent.

The increase will take effect on January 1, 2022. According to the decision, the current salary of contract junior teachers has been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 11,000. Similarly, the salary of junior teachers has been increased from Rs 6,200 to Rs 13,400.

The state government will spend Rs 16 crore a year on this. The decision will benefit 13,324 contract junior teachers, while 18,418 junior teachers will benefit. A total of 33,034 junior teachers will be paid.
