Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi rolled out higher scholarship payouts on Monday, targeting pre-matric and post-matric students under the state's flagship education programs.
The announcement was done during a district-level event in Nuapada, to ramp up financial support for thousands of young scholars, with amounts now reaching as high as ₹17,000 per beneficiary.
In a post on X from the Chief Minister's Office, the details were spelled out plainly: Pre-matric scholarships under the Mukhyamantri Medhabruti Yojana climb from ₹10,500 to ₹16,000, while Anwesha Yojana aid for students from low-income families jumps from ₹11,000 to ₹17,000. For post-matric levels, male recipients will get ₹16,000 annually, and females ₹17,000 – a small but notable gender nudge in the funding.
CM Majhi addressing the gathering in Nuapada, said: “Education is the root of development, and our government is committed to ensuring opportunities for quality education for children from all backgrounds.”
He went on to stress how these tweaks to scholarship levels would ease the load for ambitious students eyeing college without the constant worry over costs.
