CBSE plans in-school support for competitive exams like JEE, NEET, CUET
The move comes at a time when the Ministry of Education is also reviewing whether JEE and NEET question papers are aligned with the Class 12 syllabus
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) planning to introduce competitive exam preparation support for school students, to prevent students from going to coaching institutes. CBSE will help students prepare for exams like JEE Main, NEET-UG and CUET-UG in its affiliated schools.
A CBSE committee has suggested creating dedicated โCentres for Advanced Studiesโ in schools itself. At these centres students will be provided subject related training for entrance exams alongside their regular board curriculum.
The move comes at a time when the Ministry of Education is also reviewing whether JEE and NEET question papers are aligned with the Class 12 syllabus and whether their increasing difficulty has contributed to the growth of the coaching industry.
The plan has been created to reduce dependence on coaching institutes by integrating additional academic support within school system. There have been reports of students enrolling in some schools and not attending classes, instead spending full time at coaching centers.
Under the proposed plan, students would receive guidance in advanced concepts, problem-solving skills and mock tests for these exams under supervision of trained teachers.
โThe plan is still under discussion, and details such as implementation model, number of pilot schools, and timelines are yet to be finalised. If approved, the scheme could begin in phases, starting with CBSE-affiliated schools in select cities,โ reported Navbharat times.
