Odisha government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking more time to declare Class 12 board exam results. The Council for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Odisha in its petition has stated that it will try to declare the results of the Science and Commerce stream by July 31.
Earlier on June 24, the Supreme Court directed all the state boards and the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) to declare Class 10 and Class 12 results by July 31. The order reads: โWe direct all the State Boards to ensure that the schemes are formulated and notified at the earliest and not later than 10 days from today and also declare the results of internal assessment by 31.07.2021, which is the time-line specified for
C.B.S.E. and I.C.S.E. Boards.โ
However, many of the state boards and CBSE is finding it hard to declare the results by July 31. The ISCE declared the Class 10 and Class 12 results last week.
Odisha government has approached the apex court requesting some more time to publish the results of Arts and Vocational Studies. As many as 3,45,672 students had enrolled to appear in the annual higher secondary examination, 2021 which was scheduled to be conducted in physical mode from May 18, 2021, to June 12, 2021. The examination was later cancelled due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The state government constituted an expert committee to come with an assessment mechanism to evaluate Class 10, Class 12 students.
As per the petition, keeping in view the bulk and complexity of data capturing and result processing, the task of publishing the results has become voluminous and herculean and the deadline of July 31 is
the difficult.
โThe Applicant herein is putting all efforts to publish the results of the Science and Commerce streams by 31.7.2021. However, the results of Arts & Vocational streams seem impossible to publish by 31.7.2021 as there are a combined number of 2,21,867 students in both the said streams,โ reads the petition.
The state government has requested two weeks more time to publish the results of the arts and vocational streams.
