President Droupadi Murmu to Confer National Teachers’ Award 2024 Today

In addition to the 50 teachers from the Department of School Education and Literacy, the Department of Higher Education and the Ministry of Skill Development and Literacy have each selected 16 teachers for this honor.

Teachers’ Day 2024: President of India Droupadi Murmu is all set to confer the prestigious National Teachers’ Award 2024 to 82 distinguished educators at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. This date marks National Teachers' Day in India, a celebration in honor of the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the country’s second president and a revered philosopher, teacher, and scholar.

Celebrating Educators’ Contributions

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Education, the National Teachers’ Award is described as a tribute to the exceptional contributions of teachers who have significantly improved the quality of education and enriched the lives of their students. The award recognizes the commitment and dedication of teachers across the country.

Award Details

Each awardee will receive a certificate of merit, a cash prize of INR 50,000, and a silver medal. The ceremony will also offer the honored teachers an opportunity to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, enhancing the significance of this recognition.

Diverse Group of Awardees

This year’s selection includes 50 teachers chosen by the Department of School Education and Literacy, representing 28 states, three union territories, and six organizations. Among the recipients are 34 male teachers and 16 female teachers. Notably, two awardees are differently-abled, and one works with Children With Special Needs (CWSN).

Recognition from Other Departments
