The Tamil Nadu 12th Board exam be conducted from March 2, 2026, by the Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu. The first exam will be in the first language, which can be anyone among Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Urdu, Sanskrit, Arabic, French, or German. In 2026, TN 12th Class 10 and 12 exams will run concurrently. Over 8 lakh students have registered to appear for the Boards exam.

Tamil Nadu 12th Exam 2026: Shift Timings
The Tamil Nadu 12th Board exam will be conducted from 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM. Students will be allotted a Question Paper Reading time of 10 minutes from 10:00 AM to 10:10 AM. Additionally, five minutes, from 10:10 AM – 10:15 AM, will be allotted for verification of particulars. The exam will be held in offline mode (pen and paper-based exam). Overall, the exam duration is 3 hours.
Tamil Nadu HSE 2026: Do’s and Don’t’s for the Exam Day
Candidates are advised to follow these last-minute tips for preparation of the Tamil Nadu 12th Exam 2026.
- Download the TN plus two admit card from the official website and keep a hard copy in your exam bag.
- Keep a valid photo ID proof, which needs to be presented at the exam centre.
- Reach the examination centre around half an hour before the scheduled exam time.
- Carry your own blue or black ballpoint pens, pencils, erasers, and related stationery items
- Wear your school uniform to appear for the exam
- Do not carry mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, or any digital gadgets as they are prohibited at the test centre.
- Only transparent water bottles are allowed.
