The West Bengal Government has ordered closure of schools from tomorrow, April 20 amid rapid increase in COVID19 cases. The government has also decided that summer vacation for government schools will begin on May 7.
In view of the COVID19 surge in the state of Bengal, the state government has decided to shut schools from tomorrow, April 20. Students of Class 10th, 12th along with teachers have been attending schools till now for the preparation of board examinations. Any preparations for the board exams will be done online, if needed. WB 10th exams are scheduled between June 1 and June 10 while WB 12th exams 2021 are to be held between June 15 and July 3.
Until now, the board has not taken any decision pertaining to the cancellation or deferment of WB 10th, 12th board exams 2021 in the state.
The government has also decided to begin with the summer vacations in all state government schools from May 7.
Soon after CBSE cancelled exams for the students of Class 10 and postponed Class 12 exams, the West Bengal Government said an appropriate decision will be taken in view of the spurt in coronavirus cases giving priority to the health of students who will sit for 10th, 12th board exams. "The government will certainly take a decision in the interest of students at the appropriate time considering the COVID-19 situation," State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee had earlier said.
