WB Board has decided to not conduct the WB Madhyamik exams 2021 from June 1 due to rising COVID19 cases in the state. The examinations were scheduled from June 1 to 10.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has decided not to begin the WB Madhyamik exams 2021 from June 1 due to surge in COVID19 cases in the state. The Board will soon decide on whether to cancel or conduct the examinations at a later date. Any decision by the state for the education board on the examination will be based on the state Higher Secondary examination which is scheduled to start from June 15, 2021.
Earlier, WBBSE exams 2021 were scheduled to begin on June 1 and end on June 10, 2021.
According to media reports, WBBSE president, Kalyanmoy Ganguly informed the school education department that it was not possible to hold the WB Madhyamik examination from this scheduled date of June 1. The state government will take a final call on the postponement or cancellation of the exams.
According to a board official, the discussion between the board and the state School department has begun already. With local train services being stopped and the state buses and Metro services running at 50 per cent capacity, the examinees will face a problem to physically turn up at the examination centers as many of them reside in rural Bengal. Also teachers, examiners and other official conducting and carrying question papers and answer scripts physically will find difficulty commuting from one place to the other.
According to the reports, the COVID19 restrictions in West Bengal will remain intact till May 31 making it impossible for the West Bengal Education Board to hold Madhyamik examinations 2021, even if the pandemic situation improves. This year around 10 lakh students will be appearing for the Madhyamik examination 2021. Students are advised to keep checking here for the latest news on the conduct of WB Madhyamik examination 2021.
