The State Education Minister S Suresh Kumar appealed to students who are appearing for class 10 and 12 exams to not believe rumours about cancellation of exams.
Refuting speculation about the cancellation of Karnataka class 10 and class 12 board examinations, the state education minister, S Suresh Kumar said that the state government has not decided yet to cancel Karnataka SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) and 2nd year PUC examinations.
He informed that students must not believe in any such rumours about the cancellation of the exams and that they must continue with their preparations. He told that the new dates for Karnataka 2nd PUC and SSLC exams 2021 will be announced only after the second wave of COVID19 pandemic subsides.
"I appeal to students preparing for these examinations SSLC and PU II year to continue to study and prepare well for their examinations," he said.
On May 13, the state government had decided to postpone the Class 10 state board examination.
Earlier, the SSLC exams were scheduled between June 21 and July 5. However, due to a severe spike in Covid cases in the state, the government decided to postpone these examinations after parents, students and many school associations had raised a red flag over holding these crucial examinations.
Karnataka had postponed the second year Pre-University Exam (PUC) or Class 12 final exams and promoted first-year students. The state schools are currently observing summer vacation, which will continue till June 14. The new academic session would begin on June 15.
Nearly, 8.5 lakh students appear for the SSLC examinations every year from the state.
