393 jabbed during second phase of IIM-Calcutta vaccination drive

IIM Calcutta COVID-19 vaccination camp was organised after taking due permission from the chief medical officer of health, South 24 Parganas. 

Amid the declining cases of the novel coronavirus and reopening of higher education institutions in a phased manner, the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) organized the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive. The drive was organised on the b-school’s campus for its students, staff and faculty along with their family members. According to the data shared by the institute, a total of 393 people got vaccinated at the IIM-C COVID-19 vaccination camp with the first and second dose of Covishield and Covaxin vaccines. According to TOI, IIM- Calcutta organised the day-long vaccination camp in collaboration with a private diagnostics clinic. The camp was organised after taking due permission from the chief medical officer of health, South 24 Parganas. The doses were administered in the new academic block building and amphitheatre on the Joka premises.

Earlier, the management institute launched the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive on June 7. Reports suggest that during the first phase of vaccination camp, IIM Calcutta vaccinated a total of 296 persons. The number included IIM-C faculty members, officers, staff and their family members along with contractual employees as well. Talking about the launch of the vaccination camp on the campus, Professor Manish Thakur, dean (new initiatives and external relations), told TOI, “We are committed to the health and safety of all our community members. This vaccination drive is a demonstration of our resolve to create a safe environment for all.”

Colleges and universities across the nation are reopening in a phased manner. State governments are taking decision to reopen the institutions and schools after analyzing the COVID-19 situation in the region.
