IIM Bodh Gaya welcomes new batches of MBA, PhD courses comprising 294 students
The programme was attended by all the new students along with esteemed guests, faculty members, and the existing students.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya welcomed an academically diverse batch of 285 students to the eighth batch of its MBA programme and nine scholars to its third PhD programme during a grand Orientation Programme that began on July 5. The three-day gala event will conclude on Thursday. The programme was attended by all the new students along with esteemed guests, faculty members, and the existing students.
60 female students in a batch of 285
Of the 285 students inducted in the MBA Programme, 60 are female. With 146 students having previous work experience, the average work experience of the batch is 30 months. The batch comprises of students from multiple disciplines like Engineering, Science, Commerce, Humanities, Management, Language, Law, Dentistry, Fashion Designing, and Pharmacy. This year, nine new PhD scholars, including four females, have been admitted to the institute in the areas of Operations Management, Economics, Finance, Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management, Strategy, Marketing, and IT.
Such a diverse batch of students with varied mindsets is always a boon as they contribute to the classroom discussions and activities and grow together. On the first day, the ceremony commenced with Vedic chanting and a Bharatnatyam recital of Ganesh Vandana by the students. It was followed by the lighting of the lamp. Dr. Prabhat Ranjan, Chairperson, Admissions Committee, presented the profiles of the new batches of students. Professor Md Laeequddin, Chairperson, PhD, talked about the PhD programme while Professor Archana Patro, Chairperson, PGP, introduced the MBA programme and described the course curriculum and structure.

Professor Vinita Sahay, Director, IIM Bodh Gaya, welcomed the new batch and wished them good luck for an exciting and enriching journey with the Institute. She guided the students through the core ideas and principles of the institute and emphasized that the vision of the institute is to make future mindful and socially responsible business leaders. The orientation saw many eminent speakers conducting informative sessions for the students. The first session of Day 1 was marked by a talk of Abhik Chatterjee, MD & Partner, BCG, who talked about the importance of teamwork. Pratyay Amrit, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Govt. of Bihar, said, "Some are born leaders, some invite these qualities. For some, they don't make it to that class, but they are brilliant followers and if you are happy with that, so be it." Shashank Kumar, Co-Founder & CEO, DeHaat, underlined the importance of job creation for a developing country like India. Atul Singh, Founder, CEO & Chief Editor, Fair Observer, also joined the programme online and talked about freedom of ideas, creativity and innovation.
