Several executive and management development programmes have been designed to further the NMP. As many as 167 pan-India organisations have become part of the programme in three batches.

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam has joined the capacity building initiative under PM Gati Shakti - national master plan (NMP) for multi-modal connectivity, under the Union Ministry of Education. The institute of national importance has been training and building the capacities of the professionals and practitioners, who could strengthen the implementation of the Gati Sakthi national master plan.

Several executive and management development programmes have been designed to further the NMP. Some of the organisations, which represented or have been representing in one such programme ‘digital supply chain and logistics management’, include Accenture, Amazon, Reliance Industries, Indian Army, Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Hindustan Unilever, L&T, Tech Mahindra, TVS Motor Company, Dalmia Cement, 3M India Ltd, Vizag Steel Plant, Fedex, Infiniti Retail Ltd., Croma, DB Schenker, etc. As many as 167 pan-India organisations have become part of the programme in three batches.

IIM Vizag director Professor M Chandrasekhar said IIM Visakhapatnam has initiated several steps as part of capacity building initiative under the PM Gati Sakthi NMP. “One such initiative is to share knowledge through well-structured online executive education programmes. Accordingly, six-month online executive certificate programmes titled ‘digital supply chain and logistics management’ were launched in succession. The focus of the programmes is digitisation of supply chains and management of logistics. Experience-sharing sessions have been bringing to the table, practical exposure on enhancing the supply-chain and logistics performance in key sectors such as textiles, food and processed foods, retail goods, etc.,” said Prof Chandrasekhar.“

Going by the popularity of the programme and encouraging response from the participants, the programme is already into the third batch. In addition, IIM Visakhapatnam has also organised two faculty development programmes for supporting the NMP, titled ‘sustainable agri-food supply chain management for social goods’ and ‘sustainable and responsible aids for logistics 4.0.’ These two programmes have been successfully completed, with good feedback,” added Professor Chandrasekhar.
