NMIMS, Sobus Ventures Studio ink pact to create Centre of Excellence for innovation, entrepreneurship

Sobus ventures Studio is a platform to accelerate social businesses, it aims to create a 10x times increase in social startups on the Institute's campus by developing an innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem that benefits the local community and the Institution.

Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal's (SVKM's) Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mukesh Patel technology park, Shirpur Campus signed an agreement with Sobus Ventures Studio for the creation of a centre of excellence (CoE) on the NMIMS Shirpur campus. The CoE will be providing students a jumpstart into their careers with opportunities to work in entrepreneurial frameworks that help in creating startups.

Sobus ventures Studio is a platform to accelerate social businesses, it aims to create a 10x times increase in social startups on the Institute's campus by developing an innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem that benefits the local community and the Institution. The centre will be focusing on servicing the local community and entrepreneurs with programmes like incubation and acceleration to help explore their earning capacities among other facilities. The CoE will be working with several schools of engineering, pharmacy, agriculture and textiles that are associated with SVKM's NMIMS Shirpur. This multi-disciplinary centre will work towards development in various domains like sustainable agriculture, textile, health, innovations and technology.

NMIMS, pro vice-chancellor, Sharad Mhaiskar, said: “This initiative have transformed NMIMS into a globalised centre of learning and provided students with exposure to research, academics, and practical aspects. This MOU with Sobus will help us in developing and delivering curriculum, workshops, and training programs and activities. We are positive that this collaboration with Sobus will help in achieving our objectives to build a powerful innovation and entrepreneurial campus ecosystem.” Talking about the partnership with NMIMS, Sobus Ventures Studio, director, Digvijay Choudhari, said “As a young nation, we have huge aspirations but fewer opportunities and options. To truly emerge as a strong country, every citizen needs to become a part of the India story. This partnership aims to support NMIMS in setting up a region-specific start-up ecosystem with a focus on social enterprises. Our goal is to strengthen the local economy by creating an end-to-end business ecosystem for NMIMS."
