Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s SPJIMR concluded its placement drive for its one-year PGPM Class of 2020. On March 22, SPJIMR announced that “all participants of its 15-month post-graduate programme in management (PGPM) have been placed, marking the successful closure of a placement season that came in the midst of a series of disruptions caused by the Sars-Cov-2 pandemic.” The overwhelming response received during SPJIMR Placements 2021 “reflected the business-readiness of PGPM participants at a time businesses are looking to open up to full-scale operations and grow faster in the aftermath of the pandemic.”
The official press release informs that “the average salary for the top 25% of the batch stood at INR 25.6L while the average salary for the top 50% of the class was INR 22.8L.” The institute’s record witnessed a 6% rise over the last year in the average salary for the batch, i.e. INR 19.5L. “On average, the batch almost doubled their incoming salaries (average hike: 95%) with the highest hike being around 325%,” reads the official press release.
According to the press release, the students of the SPJIMR PGPM batch received a maximum number of hires from the sectors of Information Technology and Services, followed by Operations and Supply Chain, an indication of the demand for professional talent and the significance of IT and Operations areas in growth revival. A leading organization such as Accenture Operations, Blue Yonder, Cognizant, Deloitte, Edelweiss, Genpact, Indegene, Infosys Consulting, KPMG, LTI, Sapient, Thoucentric, Udaan amongst others offered middle-management roles.
A total of 74 companies participated in the SPJIMR Placement Drive 2021 to hire a batch of 115 participants. Among the majority of regular recruiters, a total of 35 companies joined the placement drive for the first time this year. The press release further adds, “Though the season saw active participation from companies across sectors, Consulting and IT/ITES took the biggest share followed by roles in Operations & Supply Chain.”
Talking about the overwhelming response received by SPJIMR, the institute’s placement head Bhishm Chugani said, “Anticipating a sluggish year for recruitment, students increased their efforts towards interview preparation in addition to the outreach to companies. Most regular recruiters saw value in their past decisions and supported recruitment from the current batch towards their people requirements.”
