The Bihar Public Service Commission selected nine students for the role of Assistant Professors who are studying at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The nine students are from the geology department at BHU. Arun Deo, who is a professor at the Department of geology at the Institute of Science informed that five students from the selected group are currently pursuing doctoral studies from the department. “The department fraternity is filled with pride and joy with the shining success of students”, he added.

In April 2023, three students from BHU were selected for a French government scholarship for the academic year 2023-24. The three students were awarded the prestigious Assistant d’anglais (English language assistant) scholarship. This includes a fully funded sponsorship by the French Ministry of Education. As part of this scholarship, the students will get the opportunity to work as English language assistants in different cities in France.

In other news, BHU recently stated that it will allocate 25 percent additional funding for sports activities. The university will build new courts, restore the amphitheater and install floodlights. As per the official notice, the university will allocate 25 percent additional funding based on each hostel resident. This initiative is part of the Khelo India programme by the Government of India. Along with this, BHU also launched scholarships for MA Jyotish students of which Rs 25,000 scholarship will be given to first and second-year students based on merit-cum-means approach. This is part of pratidana initiative which was introduced last year in February with the aim to support meritorious students who are in need of financial assistance.
