Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham introduces six online degree programmes

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in its official statement stated that it is launching BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, MCA in artificial intelligence and MCA in cybersecurity degree courses in online mode.

Amrita University Coimbatore Admission 2020: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham introduced a full-fledged online degree programmes in management and computer application. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in its official statement stated that it is launching BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, MCA in artificial intelligence and MCA in cybersecurity degree courses in online mode. The university has also started a six-week certificate program on Mahabharata.

The University Grants Commission approved and issued regulations for online degrees regulations in 2020. The regulations allowed institutions in the top hundred ranks of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission relaxed the regulations in 2020 to allow more universities to offer these courses. According to the budget 2021 documents released on February 1, the relaxations will allow roughly 239 institutions to offer online degree programmes.

Online degrees equivalent to the university’s on-campus degrees

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham clubbed the online programmes together under the “Amrita AHEAD” brand. The online degree is equivalent to the university’s on-campus degrees, according to the university. Talking about the launched online courses, P Venkat Rangan, vice-chancellor of the university said, “The Amrita AHEAD online programs help solve the problem of equity and accessibility in higher education. Students can study from the comfort of their homes at their own pace in a world-class learning environment that includes faculty from India and abroad. The online degrees are equivalent to our on-campus degrees, offering the same academic and career opportunities to our online students as available to students studying at our physical campus.”
