The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has announced that it will resume classes for final year and final semesters students in hybrid mode from September 1. The classes in hybrid mode, a mix of both online and offline, will be conducted for the final year undergraduate and postgraduate students. The BHU has also decided to reopen its hostels and allow the final-year students to stay in single-occupancy hostel rooms. This has been done keeping in mind the COVID-19 protocols and to avoid the spread of the COVID-19.

Along with this, the University has also directed all its students, teaching and non-teaching staff to adhere to COVID-19 protocols and safety measures. The use of face masks, sanitisers, frequent handwashing and respiratory etiquette has also been made compulsory by BHU. The decision to reopen the BHU campus and hostels for final year students was taken during a meeting that was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the university.

In April, the BHU has shut down the offline teaching-learning process and restricted the movement of people inside the University campus to avoid the spread of COVID-19. The university had asked hostellers to go to their native places and take the online, open-book exams “in the safety of their homes".
