Banaras Hindu University is now inviting applications for the MA Museology offered by the Department of Museology. All those candidates who are interested must note that the eligibility criteria for the course have been amended. Earlier, the eligibility condition for admission to the program is MA in History/Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology/History/Sanskrit with was minimum 50 per cent marks.
Now, as per the new eligibility, students with a minimum 50 per cent marks in bachelor's degree in Arts & Humanities/Social Sciences are now eligible for admission to the program. Banaras Hindu University initially started a Post Graduate Diploma Course in Museology in the year 1968 under Bharat Kala Bhawan. It was then upgraded to M.A. in the Museology program in 1979. Then Museology section was made part of the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology in 2006.
