Calcutta University Admissions 2022: Calcutta University has begun its admission process for the academic year 2022-23. Several colleges affiliated with the University has also released the eligibility criteria for students looking forward to taking admission into undergraduate courses. Apart from the certain percentage of marks in the subjects at the Class 12th exam for the subjects they are applying for, the candidates will also have to meet certain other conditions like minimum percentage of marks in a related subject or in English.
As per the principals, this will not only help them to ensure that only those students who meet the eligibility criteria apply for those courses but also will help the applicants to know that it is important to have a grasp on a related subject or English apart from the subject they are applying for to study in college.
“We have been barred from conducting admission tests by the education department so we do not have many options in ensuring that the students have a good foundation in English and mathematics which are required for studying most subjects. In the past, we have found that despite scoring well in most subjects, students find it difficult to comprehend the lessons in class because of a weak foundations in English and mathematics. The eligibility criteria help us to a certain extent at filtering applications at the very initial stage,” said the principal of a north Kolkata college.
