The College of Engineering, Pune has bagged the top position in the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) learning assessment survey. The survey was conducted by AICTE from September 2021 to June 2022. There were 314 engineering undergraduates from the College of Engineering who scored over 70 per cent in the test.

It must be noted that an online test was conducted by AICTE for the survey but no one of the IITs had participated.  An aptitude test was also conducted for all levels but apart from that, the first-year students were tested on subjects such as physics, chemistry, and maths. The second-year, third-year and fourth-year students were judged on aptitude in their areas of specialization.

The entire scores of the third year and fourth year also included their performances in Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things. The Birla Institute of Technology, Jharkhand secured second rank where 193 students had also scored above 70 per cent. The third rank was bagged by NMAM Institute of Technology, Karnataka where 166 students scored above 70 per cent as well.

The top three colleges which secured the first three ranks did not come under the Top 50 of the National Institute Ranking Framework, NRF but the other institutes did.

Most of the students who took the survey were from the southern states – Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. 24,499 students from Tamil Nadu also participated in the survey, which is the highest number of students enrolling for the test. Apart from this several students from Punjab, Rajasthan, and Haryana also participated with 12,387 enrolling for it. There were 9,012 students enrolling from east and Northeast India.
