The decision to reopen the colleges, Universities were taken during a weekly review meeting, during which the government officials assessed the prevailing COVID-19 situation and the preparedness to allow offline classes.

College, Universities in Pune will reopen and resume the offline classes for students from today; i.e. October 11. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had earlier said that the state government has decided to give approval for reopening of higher education institutions from October 11 in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and even in rural areas. The decision to reopen the colleges, Universities were taken during a weekly review meeting, during which the government officials assessed the prevailing COVID-19 situation and the preparedness to allow offline classes.

All colleges, universities and higher education institutions have been asked to follow COVID-related precautionary norms and guidelines. To ensure the safety of students and staff members, the state government has made it mandatory that only fully vaccinated students i.e. those who have had complete two doses will be allowed on campus.

The state government has also asked all students that are traveling from other districts, and wish to attend the offline classes to present a negative RT-PCR test report. These COVID-19 restrictions have been imposed to ensure everyone is safe and avoid any further spread of COVID-19. Pune Municipal Corporation has also issued an order reiterating the need for a negative RT-PCR test for students travelling from other districts.

It must be noted that all those students who have not taken both doses will not be allowed to join offline classes. Colleges and universities have also been directed to follow other COVID-19 precautions including wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and so on. It must be noted that attendance is not mandatory and all those who cannot attend offline classes can attend online classes.
