COVID-19 Impact: All educational institutions in Lucknow to remain closed until April 15
All government and non-government schools, colleges, coaching institutes and other educational institutes, barring medical, nursing and para-medical ones will remain closed till April 15.
In a bid to control the spread of coronavirus infection in the district, the Lucknow administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions, except those that are imparting medical education. All government and non-government schools, colleges, coaching institutes and other educational institutes, barring medical, nursing and para-medical ones will remain closed till April 15, Lucknow’s District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash in a statement on Wednesday.
He, however, said examinations including the practical examinations, will be allowed in recognised educational institutes with strict adherence to the anti-Covid protocol.
Earlier, the University of Lucknow had issued directives to tighten the COVID-19 restrictions. Nalini Pandey, Chief Provost of the University in a letter stated that "Due to a sharp surge in Coronavirus cases in the city, as a precautionary measure the hostel students are requested to stay back at home and not return to the hostel till offline classes resume."
"The students residing in the hostel are requested to either go back to their home and if they choose to remain in the hostel they shall not be allowed to leave the hostel premises for any reason besides in case of emergency and after seeking permission from their respective hostel provost," the letter added.
The Uttar Pradesh government has also restricted more than 100 people to gather at any public place in an enclosed area until further orders. In an order issued by the state government, it stated that only 50 per cent of the area's capacity, subject to a maximum of 100 people will be permitted while an open area, 50 per cent of the capacity, subject to a maximum of 200 persons will be permitted. In both cases, wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and sanitisation will be compulsory.
