Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh has formed a six-member committee to identify the unused space in the faculties, departments and centers of the varsity. âChancellor has constituted a space audit committee to identity unused space in the faculties, departments and centres of the university, which has not been used for the last three years for it to be treated as unused space and to frame a policy for allocation of space,â the notification issued by Joint registrar (estate) stated.
Along with Prakash Singh, the committee includes the estate officer, joint dean (colleges), department of chemistry professor SK Awasthi, chief engineer and joint registrar (estate).Â
Meanwhile, allegations of non-payment of funds to Delhi government-funded Delhi University (DU) colleges have once again hit the headlines with the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) college not paying salary to its staff in May due to the lack of funds. The college staff association sat on dharna inside the premises against the non-payment of salaries.Â
While speaking on the same, DDU principal Hem Chand Jain said the last instalment the college had received was INR 8.75 crore. âWe had got that in April, but it went in paying salaries of the previous two months which were also unpaid and one senior teacher had retired too, so some of it was spent there. We do not have money to pay our staff for the month of May. We have appealed to the Delhi government repeatedly to release funds,â he said.
