Delhi University re-opening: The University of Delhi (DU) is all set to reopen from February 1 onwards. According to the reports, the re-opening decision regarding DU was taken after a meeting with the heads of departments of the university and principals of colleges affiliated with the varsity. All the colleges, centres, and departments will be functional and all teaching staff has been asked to attend their workplace from February 1. However, students must note that the University of Delhi will not be open for everyone. Among students, only final-year students have been asked to come back to the campus in small batches. Final-year students,  who need access to laboratories and have practical classes will be allowed to return first. Meanwhile, the return of students is not mandatory. Students, according to the notice, can return to their campus on a voluntary basis.

Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus followed by the nationwide lockdown, the university is shut since mid-March to curb the COVID-19 pandemic. For the students admitted to other classes, the online classes will continue as per schedule. Meanwhile, the Delhi University is mulling to set up an overseas campus to make the most of the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the varsity's vice-chancellor Professor P C Joshi said. While talking to a reputed media house, Joshi said, “We want to expand the scope of education across the world. The revised NEP has given a golden opportunity to universities, and we want to make the most of it. We are looking to expand our campus and some of the places under consideration are Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Singapore and Mauritius.”
