DU SOL was established in 1962 and it is a constituent college of the Delhi University. DU SOL offers various courses in humanities, social sciences and commerce. Every year, more than 1,50,000 students enroll in the college.
Delhi University's School of Open Learning (SOL) has successfully completed 60 years of its establishment. On the occasion, the varsity rewarded retiring teachers, non-teaching staff and 170 toppers of the last five years. The DU SOL diamond Jubliee celebration was graced by Sita Gosain, former Indian Hockey team captain as the chief guest. Vikas Gupta, Registrar, University of Delhi was the Guest of Honour, Megha Parmar, the first woman to claim the Mount Everest and Kiranjeet Singh Sandhu, nephew of Shaheed Bhagat Singh were amongst the Special Guests. The event was organised under the chairmanship of Professor Payal Mago, Director of Campus of School of Open Learning.
While speaking at the function, Gosain said, nobody can stop any person from achieving his/her goals, if he/she is determined enough.

Speaking about the SOL's journey, Professor Mago said that from this year the new National Education Policy (NEP 2020) will also be implemented. She also announced that the SOL will also be introducing some new courses this year.
The event which was held online was attended by around 3,000 people of which 1,500 were SOL students. While talking about her life experience, said: “Students should understand the value of money in life, and learn to make the mind creative and to not give up".
