Gujarat University inks MoU with Kashmir University for research
Gujarat University has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for various initiatives including joint research programmes and student and faculty exchange programmes. The MoU was signed during an online event. The MoU was signed by GU vice-chancellor Himanshu Pandya and his Kashmir University counterpart Niloufer Khan.
Khan said that in the future, both the universities will collaborate to offer dual degree courses across disciplines. Under the MoU, both the universities will work together in various fields such as climate change and sustainability, water conservation and capacity building, agriculture and entrepreneurship, the press release stated.
"Gujarat University's Indian Institute of Sustainability has signed agreements with many Indian and international universities and institutes for various academic programmes. The latest MoU with Kashmir University will add a lot of value to the academic opportunities being offered by GU," Himanshu Pandya said.
Further, on the sidelines of the MoU signing, when asked on the proposal of dual and joint degree programmes between the two universities, as stressed upon by Gujarat University Vice Chancellor Prof Pandya, Prof Khan said, “Our deans will identify the areas dual degrees can be worked out.”
The MoU is intended to build mutual cooperation between IIS and University of Kashmir in areas related to development of livelihood, farm and non-farm livelihood, climate change, rural development and natural farming, among others.
The collaboration will largely focus on advancement of sustainable development and to help promote innovations, entrepreneurship and action-oriented research in several key areas. “It is a momentous occasion to enter into a tie-up with IIS, Gujarat University, to help develop a holistic approach to sustainable development.Through this MoU we will explore research and collaborations in the areas of tourism, startup centres, agro and environment courses,” said Prof Khan.
