IIM Indore to launch online training module for teachers

The aim of these training modules is to enable 3.07 Lakh teachers of Classes 1 to 12 to manage their time skillfully and handle their stress levels created due to online teaching.

IIM Indore Teacher Training Programme: Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore has tied up with Madhya Pradesh in order to develop a teacher training programme. The premier technology institute is preparing six video-based modules for teachers to train them in online teaching. The outbreak of the novel coronavirus followed by the nationwide lockdown imposed in order to contain the virus shifted the whole teaching-learning process online. The sudden change came with a lot of challenges. Considering the ongoing pandemic situation and the ongoing closure of academic institutions, IIM Indore took this initiative of training teachers in online teaching.

The aim of these training modules is to enable 3.07 Lakh teachers of Classes 1 to 12 to manage their time skillfully and handle their stress levels created due to online teaching. According to the reports, these online modules would also help in developing teaching skills among the instructors by using internet-based tools. This initiative has been tied up with Madhya Pradesh’s CM Rise programme. Under this programme, teachers will receive twelve videos of seven minutes via Whatsapp based on training modules in order to help teachers learn time management, stress management, and self-management.

Reading material will be provided to be read before and after the videos. Multiple-Choice-Based Questions (MCQs) will be followed. Only after clearing the MCQ round, teachers can only proceed to the next module. After clearing all these training modules, they will be labelled as IIM-I certified teachers.

To create a simulated environment to train teachers in online classes, IIM Indore Director Professor Himanshu Rai also launched a Virtual Learning Classroom Studio earlier.
