IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Sign MoU for Semiconductor, Basic Sciences Research
IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad have signed MoU to promote joint research and academic collaboration, with semiconductors and basic sciences.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar and Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad (IIT (ISM) Dhanbad) have joined hands to strengthen research and academic cooperation between two institutions. The collaboration has been formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with initial focus on semiconductor research and basic sciences.
This partnership aims to bring together expertise and research capabilities of both institutes. Under this MoU, researchers and faculty members from IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad will have opportunities to work together on research projects in identified areas.
IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad MoU
This agreement provides for several forms of academic and research collaboration. These include joint research projects, doctoral supervision, faculty and student exchange programmes, and sharing of experimental resources. The two institutes will also work together to seek external funding for research projects. This is expected to support larger and more collaborative research initiatives involving researchers from both institutions.
As part of this agreement, the institutes will also examine possibility of setting up and jointly operating large experimental facilities. Such facilities could provide researchers with access to advanced infrastructure and equipment for carrying out specialised experiments.
Semiconductor Research to be Taken Up First
As per agreement, semiconductor research will be taken up at outset. This collaboration is expected to provide a platform for researchers from both institutes to combine their expertise and work on research challenges in this area.
Apart from conducting joint research, IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad will hold discussion meetings to identify research opportunities and build competence in the selected fields. These interactions are intended to encourage knowledge sharing and create stronger academic connections between the two institutions.
This MoU marks a step towards leveraging complementary strengths of IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. Through joint projects, academic exchanges, shared facilities and efforts to secure research funding, institutions will look to expand their collaboration in semiconductor technology and basic sciences while creating more opportunities for faculty members, researchers and students.
