After the arts faculty students' union has complained that a student has received a threat of getting beaten up if he enters the hostel, Jadavpur University has formed an inquiry committee to look into the matter.

A student from the arts faculty of Jadavpur University has reportedly received a threat that he would be beaten up by the students from engineering and science faculties if he enters the hostel. The alleged victim used to stay in a guest room at the hostel before March 2020 after being allegedly subjected to ragging. The arts faculty students' union submitted a complaint to the university in this matter and now the university has established an inquiry committee to probe into the matter.

As per the reports, the probe committee has been constituted with three teachers each from the engineering, arts and science faculty. The victim had recently come to the dean of students' office seeking a hostel bed after the offline classes started on November 16 and he reportedly received threat after that only.
