In wake of a surge in COVID-19 cases, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has now released guidelines to curb the spread of Covid-19 infection. JNU has released an official notification, asking its students, teachers and other staff present on campus to wear masks and practice social distancing.

The move comes amid the rise in COVID-19 cases in the Delhi-NCR region. The varsity has asked students to ensure they are wearing face masks and covers at all times. Apart from the mask mandate, students and staff have been informed to maintain social distancing, personal hygiene and regular hand washing.

JNU in an official notification said, "In view of the surge in cases of COVID-19, and keeping in mind well being and safety of students/staff and campus residents, all stakeholders of the University are hereby requested to strictly adhere to the following measures/steps to prevent its spread in the University Campus."

“All are requested to ensure strict compliance with Covid-appropriate behavior viz. frequent washing of hands/sanitization, wearing a mask/face cover, maintaining personal hygiene, observing social distancing at all times,” the notice added further.

The varsity has also asked the family members and students who test positive for COVID-19 or are under quarantine to inform the security branch. In addition, the JNU has provided some emergency contact numbers. The phone numbers are 011-26741636, 011-26704766, and 011-26704700 (9 p.m. to 8 a.m.). Students can call 9971728866 or 9971728877 for ambulance service.
