To avoid any disturbance to the peace and public order amid the ongoing farmers' protest, the government of Haryana announced the suspension of mobile internet services, SMS services and all dongle services.
Kurukshetra University has postponed its exams that were scheduled to be held on February 1 and 2 until further orders. The exam has been postponed in wake of the Government of Haryana's order to extend the suspension of internet services in the state. The fresh date of examinations will be notified later on, the official notification said.
The Kurukshetra University has postponed several examinations for programes including Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Bachelor of Science (Non-Medical) (Bsc Non-Medical), Bachelor of Education (BEd) and some self-financed course. To avoid any disturbance to the peace and public order amid the ongoing farmers' protest, the government of Haryana announced the suspension of mobile internet services, SMS services and all dongle services in seven districts of the state until 5 pm today.
"The State Government has decided to impose this suspension of internet services in order to stop the spread of disinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Twitter, etc on mobile phones and SMS, for facilitation and mobilization of mobs of agitators and demonstrators who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private properties by indulging in arson or vandalism and other types of violent activities," the Haryana Government order on internet suspension stated.
The order was passed for internet suspension after violence in the national capital, Delhi, during the farmers' tractor rally on Republic Day.
The internet services have been suspended in seven of Haryana's 22 districts -- in Kaithal, Panipat, Jind, Rohtak, Charkhi Dadri, Sonipat and Jhajjar -- bordering Delhi, where lakhs of farmers have been camping for the last two months demanding repeals of three recently enacted agriculture laws.
Two of the largest protest sites Singhu and Tikri fall in Haryana's border districts of Jhajjar and Sonipat.
