NIT Trichy signs MoU with SRLDC to strengthen industry-academia interaction
The MoU will provide opportunities to faculty members and students to gain hands-on experience working in the area of power engineering, said institute director Mini Shaji Thomas.Β
TheΒ National Institute of TechnologyΒ (NIT) TrichyΒ has signed a memorandum of understanding with Southern Regional Load Despatch Centre (SRLDC), Bangalore, of the Power System Operation Corporation (POSOCO) for strengthening industry-academia interaction.Β The MoU was signed by Mini Shaji Thomas, Director, NIT Trichy, and J Jerome Amirtharaj, assistant manager (HR), POSOCO, in the presence of S Muthukumaran, Dean (Research and Consultancy), and other faculty members of NIT Trichy.Β
The MoU will provide opportunities to faculty members and students to gain hands-on experience working in the area of power engineering, said Thomas.Β The objective of the MoU is to encourage research on issues related to Indian power sector, design courses as part of industrial experience sharing, data sharing, joint research and development projects and joint publications of research papers between SRLDC and NIT Trichy based on a non-disclosure agreement and other activities. The MoU will be valid for three years.Β Β
N Kumaresan,Β Electrical and Electronics EngineeringΒ Department, NIT Trichy, and SP Kumar, chief general manager, SRLDC, POSOCO, will be the coordinators for implementation of the MoU, a release issued by the institute said.Β Β
Established in 1964, NIT Trichy is a government-run institution for higher education and advanced research, mainly in engineering and technology. It was started as the Regional Engineering College and is among the oldest establishments by the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) system.Β It has 17 departments that offer undergraduate and graduate programmes in engineering, management, humanities, and architecture.Β
