Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar's visit to address Pondicherry Central University's annual convocation on February 28 has been cancelled, a university source said. The convocation, however, will be held as scheduled that day and Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, in her capacity as chief rector of the university, will be the chief guest.

The Governor will address the outgoing graduates and distribute degree certificates at the convocation. The sources said the Vice President's secretariat has informed the university that the trip to the Union Territory for the annual convocation stands cancelled due to unavoidable reasons. Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Home Minister A Namassivayam and Members of Parliament from Puducherry S Selvaganapathy (Rajya Sabha) and V Vaithilingam (Lok Sabha) would participate in the convocation.

Meanwhile, Pondicherry University admissions 2023 have begun for various degree programmes. Candidates can apply for the same on or before March 31, 2023. There are a total of 20 distance degree programmes to which students can apply. DDE, Pondicherry University is offering professional and job-oriented academic programmes for all those who are unable to join regular academic and vocational education programmes in the university’s affiliated colleges.
