Punjabi University has inaugurated the ‘Emerging and Innovative Technology’ center, with Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan launching 33 new short-term courses. The courses have been started in collaboration with Sabudh Foundation.'Punjabi University Center for Emerging and Innovative Technology, Mohali' was the new name for the facility. There are now new data science and artificial intelligence (AI) courses available.
While speaking on the event, the Assembly Speaker said that he would share this initiative of Punjabi University with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann so that more efficient work can be done in this direction. Vice Chancellor Professor Arvind said that the new courses are required if the university wants to be a true competitor of the current times. “We have to start exclusive-type of programmes along with the traditional courses,” he said.
On the occasion, Mohali centre coordinator Dr Rekha Bhatia said that "the duration of all the 33 courses is different, ranging from one to 12 weeks. The courses include Python programming, data science, machine learning, deep learning, certificate in data, natural language processing, etc. She said that students, working professionals and businessmen can enroll in these new courses."
Co-Founder of Sabudh Foundation Sarabjot Singh said that he chose Punjab as his workplace unlike of other experts in this field.
