Rajiv Gandhi University signs agreement with funding agency for infrastructure development

RGU has signed an agreement with the Higher Education Financing Agency to develop infrastructure inside the campus. 

The Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Arunachal Pradesh, has collaborated with the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA) along with Bank of Baroda to develop infrastructure on the institute's campus at an estimated cost of Rs 66.59 crore, an official said. 
The construction of the Rajiv Gandhi University faculty building for the Electronics and Communication Department, residential quarters for staffers and hostels for students among others will be taken up under the programme, the central university's Vice-Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha said.

A total of Rs 66.59 crore has been sanctioned by the agency for the construction projects of the university, another official of the Rajiv Gandhi University said.

The HEFA, a joint venture company of Canara Bank and Union Ministry of Education, provides financial assistance to create infrastructure for the country's premier educational institutes. "The loan is sanctioned only for projects that involve in revenue generation," Mr. Kushwaha said.

RGU is the oldest university in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. The University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil and PhD programmes. The Department of Education, also offers B.Ed programme. There are fifteen colleges affiliated to the University. RGU is a central university and offers BFA, BSc, BMusic, BCA, MA, MSc, MTech, MCom, MCA, M.Ed, MBA PG diploma, and certificate programmes. Admission to a majority of courses offered by RGU is based on marks scored in Rajiv Gandhi University Common Entrance Test (RGUCET). The basic eligibility criteria for various courses offered at UG level is Class 12. RGU has been ranked 99^th for University by NIRF 2019.
