SFI Delhi State committee calls for flash protest South Asian University demanding more scholarships

SFI Delhi State Committee called for a ‘flash protest’ outside the gate of South Asian University today to showcase their dissatisfaction over issues related to scholarships, fee-waiver and additional time for completing PhDs after the COVID-19 pandemic-induced delays. The protest was attended by over fifty activists across various units of the state. Various comrades, including students from South Asian University, addressed the crowd. A large number of Delhi Police personnel were stationed outside the campus gate. The activists sloganeered for two hours and spoke to the gathering. As the iron gates were slammed shut to prevent entry, students from the university attended the protest across the gate.

Later, SFI activists visited the Acting Registrar’s office and submitted a memorandum. In a memorandum, the SFI stated that "Considering the fact that SAU students have been protesting for over a month for the fulfillment of the charter of demands and the casualties of the struggle has been too high, it is high time the administration responds positively. It has also come to our notice that, one of the formerly rusticated students has been hospitalised due to cardiac arrest."

SFI DELHI State Committee appeals to all units to observe December 2, 2022, as the day of protest in solidarity with the SAU student community’s struggle for accessible education.
