Savitri Bai Phule Pune University to conduct the final year exams from today and backlog papers from October 17, 2020.

Savitri Bai Phule Pune University is all set to begin the final year exams from today; i.e. October 12, 2020, across various centres. Authorities have been trying to reach 9,000 students out of the 2.5 lakh students registered in the final year exams who have not finalised their exam centres but in vain. While SPPU will begin its final year exams today, the backlog papers have been reportedly shifted to October 17, 2020.

The controller of the board of exam and evaluation Mahesh Lakade said that the authorities have found out that around 14,000 students had not chosen any mode of exam and they have sent bulk messages to them. Out of the total, they were only able to reach 5,000 students and the rest 9,000 students could not be reached.

“We have kept an option open for them in case they choose online mode. If they are unable to appear for the exam now they would be allowed to appear for it at a later stage,” said Mahesh Kakade.

As per the varsity, only 1.90 lakh students have appeared for the mock tests and the total number of tests taken was registered to be 2.8 lakh. Students have also informed the authorities using their social media platforms about not being provided with question banks.

Kakade had informed that the varsity has uploaded 750 subjects question banks and is in the process of uploading more. He assured that within a day all processes would be covered.

As per varsity sources, at least 35,000 to 40,000 students with backlogs had not taken any mock test. Moreover, the students had informed of some technical glitches after which the varsity said that the IT Cell would be helping the students ensuring there are no glitches during the actual exam.
