SPPU to reopen hostels from February 21
SPPU registrar Prafulla Pawar in a circular stated that the decision to reopen the hostels has been taken considering the long pending demand from the students to reopen the facility.
Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced that it will reopen its hostels from Monday; i.e. February 21. The SPPU registrar Prafulla Pawar in a circular stated that the decision to reopen the hostels has been taken considering the long pending demand from the students to reopen the facility. With offline classes started by the University and its affiliated colleges, students who are coming from rural areas were facing accommodation issues and have been requesting the management to open the hostels.
As per the notice issued by the SPPU, with a decline in the COVID-19 cases in the city, the hostels of SPPU will be reopened from February 21. Initially, for the PhD students and all those who are preparing for the competitive exams, the hostel rooms were reopened.
“It is mandatory for the students taking admission to the hostel to have taken both doses of vaccination against COVID-19. Also, it is necessary for the students to follow all the guidelines and instructions given by the central and state government regarding the reopening of hostels. All the hostel rooms have been sanitised and with proper safety measures admission process of hostels will be carried out,” said Pawar.
It must be noted that the colleges in Pune reopened on February 1 and most of the prominent colleges have started offline lectures since then. However, students have been facing issues with finding accommodation for themselves and have been demanding the University to reopen the hostels. The announcement has now given relief to all those students who have been waiting for the facility to reopen.
