While the physical classes have been discontinued, the exams will be conducted as per schedule while adhering to COVID-19 protocol.

In wake of rise in Covid cases and its variant Omicron, the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has now announced online classes for all the courses until January 16. The decision to discontinue classes in offline mode and to continue the teaching-learning mode in online mode was taken during a meeting of senior officials of the university under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Sudhir Kumar Jain.

However, all the exams that are already underway, will be conducted while adhering to all COVID-19 protocols and by maintaining social distancing norms and following respiratory hygiene. The decision regarding the students, resident doctors and teachers of the Institute of Medical Sciences will be taken by the Director of the Institute, a social media post of the university said.
The BHU Vice-Chancellor also said that the teachers should ensure that students do not lose interest in the online classes. For this, the BHU Vice-Chancellor added, the teacher should motivate the students to study through various activities. He said: โ€œWhatever is the best medium of online teaching, arrangements will be made for it.โ€

While announcing that the physical classes have been cancelled and classes will be held online till January 16, the Vice-Chancellor also added: โ€œLibrary is the heart of the university, so it will be made more hi-tech by spending more money on it. Efficient computers will be installed in the library and the seating area of the students will also be increased."

Recently, Professor Sudhir K Jain has assumed the charge of the Banaras Hindu University as the 28th Vice-Chancellor. Professor Jain was earlier the director of the IIT Gandhinagar and was appointed as new vice-chancellor of the BHU by President Ram Nath Kovind.
