Cyclone Gulab: Schools, educational institutions, government offices to remain closed in Telangana
The government took the decision following the forecast of heavy rains in the next 48 hours across the state due to the impact of the Gulab cyclone.
Cyclone Gulab: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on September 27, 2021, declared that all government offices and educational institutions in Telangana State would be closed on Tuesday, i.e. September 28, 2021. The government took the decision following the forecast of heavy rains in the next 48 hours. To take the decision, the officials conducted a review meeting with the Chief Secretary to the Government, Somesh Kumaron on the situation created by the heavy rains across the state due to the impact of the Gulab cyclone.
The official notice released by the government reads, "The Government hereby declare holiday on 28th September 2021 to all Government Offices, private institutions, schools and all educational institutions due to incessant rains and imminent forecast of heavy rains in Telangana State because of "Gulab" Cyclone. 2. However, all Departments and staff related to relief and provision of emergency/ essential services shall continue to be fully functional."

The Chief Secretary also directed that the emergency departments such as Fire Services, Panchayati Raj Revenue, Police, Municipal, Irrigation, Roads and Buildings should be on emergency duty to ensure that no property or lives are lost due to heavy rains. Further directions were given by Somesh Kumar to Principal Secretary (GAD) to take appropriate action as per the directions of the Chief Minister.
