Defence Ministry seeks three months’ time from SC to respond to plea for higher women intake in NDA
The Ministry of Defence has sought three months from Supreme Court to submit its response regarding higher intake of women candidates in National Defence Academy. Read below for more details.
Why SC asked Centre to File Affidavit?
The Supreme Court of India on January 18 has asked the Union Government to explain why the number of NDA I 2022 vacancies for women candidates have been restricted to 19, despite its orders. The top court had given centre three weeks to file an affidavit. The top court has also asked centre to put on record the figures related to the total number of candidates including women candidates who appeared in NDA 2021 exam.
Number of Candidates Passed NDA II 2021 Exam
A total of 5,75,854 candidates applied for the NDA II 2021 exam and 3,57,197 candidates took the examination. A total of 8009 candidates, including 1002 women candidates passed the NDA II 2021 written exam.
How many Vacancies have announced for NDA I 2022 Exam?
As per UPSC NDA 2022 notification, a total of 400 vacancies have been announced. Of these, 208 candidates (including 10 women) are for Army, 42 (including three for women) are for Navy, 120 (including six for women) are for IAF, and 30 for Naval Academy (For male candidates only).
