Following the declining cases of the novel coronavirus, Delhi government has decided to reopen schools from September 1. 

Delhi School Colleges Reopening: The government of the National Capital has decided to reopen schools, colleges and education institutes in a phased manner from September 1. A decision in this regard was taken at the meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on August 27. While conducting a press conference regarding Delhi school reopening, state deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia stated that they have decided to reopen schools for Classes 9 to 12 from September 1 and for Classes 6 to 8 from September 8

The decision has been taken following a marked improvement in the COVID-19 situation in Delhi. The devastating second wave of the infection claimed many lives, with the shortage of oxygen at hospitals across the city. However, the latest data state that the COVID-19 cases have declined in the Capital. Just like other states, Delhi has also decided to commence offline classes at school and open colleges as well as coaching institutions. However, Sisodia stated that during this period no school or college can deny online classes. Students will be able to attend school only with the consent of their parents. Students can also choose to stay at home and continue to study via online classes. The government will soon be sharing official SoPs regarding the same. 

The Minister also stated that the schools will reopen following all the COVID-19 protocols. Wearing masks, following social distancing and using hand sanitizer would be the must. The Delhi government recently announced the partial reopening of schools and allowed Class 10 and 12 students to visit schools for admission-related work, practical activities and counseling sessions.
